DIRECTIONS TO GRACE

Grace Episcopal School is located at 3601 Russell Road in Alexandria, Virginia.  The nearest intersection is West Glebe Road.

From I-395:
- Take "Glebe Road - Exit 7"
- If traveling south, there is
  only one exit. Turn left onto
  Glebe Road at the light.
- If traveling north, take the
  first exit, it will end up going
  right onto Glebe Road.
- At the 1st traffic light, Glebe
  Road splits - Veer right onto
  West Glebe Road.
- Continue on West Glebe and
  turn right at the 3rd light at
  Russell Road.
- Grace Episcopal School will
  be on your left.

From Route 1:
- Turn onto East Glebe Road
  (near Potomac Yards).
- Continue straight on East
  Glebe Road for 3 miles and
  cross Mt. Vernon Avenue.
  The street name changes to
  West Glebe Road.
- Turn left on to Russell Road
  (traffic light).
- Grace Episcopal School will
  be on your left.


 

 


Admissions

Fall Openings for 2008/2009

We are currently accepting applications for the fall for Grades One, Three and Four.  Please call the Admissions Office at 703-549-5067 or email us at: admissions@graceschoolalex.org for information about these available openings.

The Application Process

Applications must be received by February 1st in order to be considered for admission. Our Admissions Committee meets in late February and applicant families are notified by mail in early March. We do maintain waiting lists when appropriate.

Please note that your child must 5 years old by September 30 to be eligible for Kindergarten.  Our Junior Kindergarten program is for young 5-year-olds and older 4-year-olds.  Our Preschool class is for young 4-year-olds and older 3-year-olds. Your child must be 3 years old by June 30 to be eligible for Preschool. 

Open House Dates

Grace Episcopal School hosts two Open House events each year - on Veterans Day and on the 3rd Thursday in January.  Both programs are from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and classes will be in session.  Reservations are not required to attend.  For further information please call 703-549-5067.

Tours by Appointment

Private and small group tours are conducted on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Please call 703-549-5067 to schedule a tour.

Financial Aid

Awards are based on need as determined by the impartial judgment of Student and School Service for Financial Aid of Princeton, New Jersey.  All aid decisions are independent of admission decisions. For families who do not qualify, we offer a variety of tuition payment plans through the Smart Tuition Management program.  For the 2009/2010 school year, all applications for financial aid must be completed prior to February 6, 2009.  Current financial aid recipients must reapply each year.  All information is confidential.  Please contact the Admissions Office to receive a financial aid information packet.

Application checklist

The following steps are necessary in order for the Admissions Committee to consider your child’s application to Grace Episcopal School.

bulletSchedule a parent tour of the school.
 
bulletReturn a completed and signed application to the school, along with a $60 non-refundable application fee.
 
bulletSchedule admissions testing, where applicable:
      - Children applying to Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten are required to take the WPPSI test.
      - Children over six and applicants to Grades 1-5 are required to take the WISC-IV test.
      - Test results should be sent directly to Grace Episcopal School.
      - Preschool applicants do not require testing.
 
bulletGive the confidential teacher recommendation form and the records release form to your child’s current teacher and school office.
 
bulletOnce the file is complete, our Admissions Office will schedule a classroom visit or play date for your child.
 
bulletAll application paperwork must be received by February 1st.
