PUBLICATIONS

Web Page - www.graceschoolalex.org

The Grace Episcopal School web page provides the community with an overview of our school, and is an important part of our admissions recruitment process. Be sure to check on this web site for announcements and up-to-date school calendar information.  To ensure privacy, a student's name will not be published anywhere on this web site.

Newsletter

Our school newsletter is edited by a volunteer and is sent home monthly during the school year. It always has important information for parents as well as vignettes offered from each class. Please be sure to read the newsletter carefully and make a note of special announcements.

Parent Handbook and Student Directory

The Parent Handbook and Student Directory is issued as a single publication in September and will be sent home with your child. The Parent Handbook should be read carefully and is to be kept handy for reference throughout the year. It is also a convenient guide for birthday invitations, Valentines, etc., as well as for telephone numbers. Additions, deletions and changes will be published as necessary throughout the year and sent home to be incorporated in the Student Directory. Additional or replacement copies of the Parent Handbook and Student Directory may be purchased from the School Office of a $5.00 fee.

Policy for Proper Use of Student and Staff Directories

The staff and student directories of Grace Episcopal School are confidential.  The information contained within them is for Grace Episcopal School purposes only.  Use of these lists for any other purposes (such as promotional or commercial purposes) is strictly prohibited.

In addition, the use of the names "Grace Episcopal School" or "Grace Episcopal Church" in conjunction with any promotional or commercial venture, without the permission of the Vestry of Grace Episcopal Church, is prohibited by a church policy adopted by the Vestry, the governing board of Grace Episcopal Church, in May1992.

Curriculum and Faculty Profiles

The Curriculum and Faculty Profiles of Grace Episcopal School are available on this web site. A limited number of printed copies are available at no cost from the school office.

School Year Book

The Grace Episcopal School Year Book, The Crest, is distributed at the end of the school year.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Fundraising Events

The Gala Auction, Golf Tournament, and the Spring Performance are held annually in cooperation with the School Board and our Parents Association.  The Gala Auction and Golf Tournament raise substantial funds for Grace Episcopal School.  Donations of auction items from our parents are encouraged and appreciated.  The Spring Performance  which is produced by our faculty and students, helps to supplement our Financial Aid Fund.  Other fundraisers sponsored by the Board and/or Parents Association may be held.

Birthday Books

The Grace School Librarian coordinates the Birthday Book Program.  This is an on-going program which encourages parents to buy a book for the Grace School library in honor of their child’s birthday.  These books have been selected by the teachers and have been pre-purchased by the school librarian.  There is also a Scholastic Book Sale in late October with all proceeds going to the school library fund.

Christmas Program

The annual Christmas Program is produced by our faculty and students and is presented to Parents and friends in mid-December.  It takes place during school hours and all students participate.  Please note the date on your school calendars.  Comcast may televise the Christmas Program on their Education Channel.

Back-to-School Night

In September, the school conducts a Back-to-School Night for all parents.  This gives parents an opportunity to visit classrooms and learn about the curriculum plans for the current year.  A parents’ meeting is held in Merrow Hall Auditorium prior to the classroom visits.   All parents should plan to attend.

Back-to-School Night begins at 6:30 p.m. and usually concludes no later than 8:30 p.m.   Birthday Books are available for purchase in Merrow Hall Auditorium prior to the start of the Back-to-School Night program.

Back-to-School Night is for parents and teachers only.  Please arrange for child care.

Open House

In November and January, the school sponsors an Open House for interested families and children to visit the school.  Parent “ambassadors” assist as tour guides.  Please encourage neighbors and friends to visit the school during these scheduled tours.
